The industrialization process of lead-acid batteries is relatively long. Since the invention of lead-acid batteries by French inventor Prandtl in 1859, it has a history of 160 years. lead-acid batteries have a high degree of maturity in theoretical research, technological development, product types, product electrical performance, and other aspects, and their prices are low. Therefore, in the domestic electric light vehicle market, lead-acid batteries have long occupied the main market share.

The industrialization time of lithium batteries is relatively short, and they have developed rapidly since their birth in 1990. Due to their advantages of high energy, long lifespan, low consumption, pollution-free, no memory effect, small self discharge, and low internal resistance, lithium batteries have shown advantages in practical applications and are widely recognized as one of the most promising secondary batteries for future development.

At the same time, since the official implementation of the new national standard for electric bicycles in April 2019, lithium-ion electrification has become the main theme of the development of electric two wheeled vehicles. According to the requirements of the new national standard, the weight of the entire vehicle is required to not exceed 55kg. Traditional lead-acid batteries, due to their low energy density and large mass, are expected to significantly increase the proportion of lithium-ion electric bicycles after the implementation of the new national standard.

The second is environmental protection. In contrast, the production process of lithium-ion batteries is more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient than lead-acid batteries, and is more supported by policies;
The third is the service life. Currently, the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries is generally two to three times that of lead-acid batteries. Although the initial cost is higher, it is more economical in the long run. Internationally, lithium-ion battery electric bicycles have become popular in developed countries such as Japan, Europe and America.
